Addonics To Ship 'Pocket CD-RW'
Slim drive to include FireWire, USB/USB 2.0

Addonics Technologies today announced it will ship a "Pocket CD-RW" drive later this year. The "Pocket" in "Pocket CD-RW" refers to the drive's slim profile, which, according to Addonics, is about 0.8". The rest of the drive has about the same dimensions as a CD jewel case.
The new drive will support a choice of FireWire, CardBus or USB, with a USB 2.0 option to be added later. The FireWire version will be powered through the FireWire bus. This is similar to a CD-RW drive released earlier this year by SmartDisk/VST, which is also powered through the FireWire bus.
Addonics' drive will be able to write ate 8x and read at 24x. It can rewrite
CD-RW media at 4x. The USB and CardBus versions of the Pocket CD-RW will
be available for $459. The FireWire model will ship for $499. The require
